2012 SCTP Olympic Style National Championships

Sevin L., Gabriel S. and David T. traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado in July to compete in the 2012 SCTP Olympic Style National Championships in both Olympic Skeet and Olympic Trap.  They were proud to bring home nine medals and to represent the USCTA and Skyway Trap & Skeet Club.

In Olympic Skeet David  was Bronze Medalist in the Intermediate Division and Gabriel was Silver Medalist in the Rookie Division.  Our three man team -Sevin , Gabriel  and David won Silver Medal in the Open Division.

In Olympic Trap Gabriel was Gold Medalist in the Rookie Division.  We tied for Team Gold in Olympic Trap Open Division which required a single shot final to determine the winner.  We took the line - one Senior, one Intermediate and one Rookie versus two Seniors and an Intermediate athlete.  At the end of the shoot-off there was a one target difference!  We were proud to win the Team Silver medal in the Open Division and the boys were not fazed by the competition pressure, each shooting their single barrel training average. They vowed to work harder than ever in preparation for the next competition season!

On several occasions USA Shooting staff praised the conduct of all three team members.  Being an ISSF and USAS Referee it was an honor to have my colleagues seek me out to let me know how professional, respectful and helpful our young athletes are.  Marvin and I witnessed camaraderie, team spirit and leadership on this trip – and that is more important than winning medals!  Well done, guys – we are so proud of you!

Two of our senior athletes, Sevin Layer and Harrison Pittman represented the USCTA in the NJOSC in Colorado Springs, Co in July.  Both Sevin and Harrison shot their personal best in Olympic Trap with a 106 and a 102 respectively.  During our down time we had the honor of touring the Olympic Training Center and visiting Pikes Peak.  Well done guys!

2012 Florida Junior Olympics Award Ceremony

2011-12 USCTA Gulf Coast Hot Shots End of Season Award Ceremony, Cookout & Fun Shoot

On June 16th we celebrated our athletes for their hard work and dedication to our club, the team and the sport of clay target shooting as we wrapped up the 2011-2012 season with an award ceremony and cookout.

We recognized medalists and category winners in the 2012 Florida Junior Olympic Shotgun Championships, the atheltes who competed in the SCTP State Championship as well as presented team awards. Of course, you cannot have an award ceremony without food and games so we also ate lots of great food and had some friendly competition shooting for parents, athletes and guests.

A great time was had by all and we want to thank everyone who joined in the celebration and also those who have been so supportive throughout the season!  See you in September!
